Sahasara, the crown chakra, is located at the top of your head. The center of our spirituality, this chakra acts as the gateway to the higher realms of the consciousness.
The thousand petalled lotus sits at the crown of the head and represents enlightenment, wholeness, and infinity. The brain and the central nervous system, as well as the pituitary gland, which is responsible for promoting growth of the physical body, nourished by the crown chakra.
The life force that permeates all the chakras, and body, and mind and spirit enters us through the crown chakra. When the crown is deficient in energy, we lose touch with our innate spirituality and deal with life as though we only exist in the physical realm.
When the crown chakra is excessive in energy we become completely addicted to spiritual pursuits, often losing all sense of connections with the realities of daily life.
