SUMMARY:Life Alive Drum Circle with Jason Karol
DESCRIPTION:‘Life Alive – Drum Circle’ will celebrate expressing Spirit through the human body with the Universal language that is music and movement. We will open and close the drum circle with a guided meditation which will include sage\, unison drumming\, and toning to center and align our energies. In between will be a freestyle drum circle. Anyone can start a rhythm\, the group will improvise around that rhythm until it naturally concludes\, and then a new rhythm can arise. All skill levels are welcome\, this drum circle is open to total beginners and experienced drummers alike. It is also not just open to drummers! Dancers! During the freestyle portion\, being conscious of the space you are in and those around you\, feel free to get up and move! Shake\, dance\, stretch\, flow… feel free to move to the rhythm and express through your movement. \n\nThe first ‘Life Alive’ will be held on 1/26/24 from 7:00-9:00 pm. Please arrive a little before 7:00 if possible to get settled in for our opening meditation.’Life Alive’ will continue to be held after January on the fourth Friday of each month. \nThere will be a limited number of drums and percussion items available for borrowing at the circle\, but if you have an instrument\, please bring yours. Through private lessons and school growing up\, plus a healthy dose of trial and error self-teaching (then and now)\, Jason has become proficient in a wide range of musical instruments\, disciplines\, and styles. Jason loves sharing his passion for music and wants to encourage and inspire people to expand their love of music through his creation and facilitation. \nJason has taught drum lessons for over 15 years. He taught for 8 years at the Holliston School for the Performing Arts in Holliston\, MA. He worked as a Senior Store Associate and Lesson Program Coordinator at the Music & Arts store in Newton Centre\, MA for 4 years. He currently teaches private lessons in students’ homes. Part of different projects over the years\, he currently performs as part of Drum Nomads\, Electric Nomads\, 52:db\, and he created/facilitates the ‘Divine Design – Ecstatic Dance & Sound Bath’ event series at the Common Street Spiritual Center in Natick\, MA. He assists the wonderful DJ Tara Ma with putting on her recurring ecstatic dance event in Lincoln\, RI. He also has a passion for and experience with audio/video recording\, engineering\, editing\, and production as well as musical instrument construction\, maintenance\, and modification. \nIn addition to music\, some of Jason’s interests are: connecting with people and listening to their stories\, philosophical conversations\, learning about existence/the cosmos/The Universe\, film\, writing (fiction/non-fiction/poetry)\, hiking/biking/kayaking\, yoga/Tai Chi\, various and ever-evolving spiritual practices/disciplines (ask if you want to know more)\, acting in theater productions… oh yes\, and most importantly\, endeavouring to give cats the best ear massages ever! Through private lessons and school growing up\, plus a healthy dose of trial and error self-teaching (then and now)\, Jason has become proficient in a wide range of musical instruments\, disciplines\, and styles. Jason loves sharing his passion for music and wants to encourage and inspire people to expand their love of music through his creation and facilitation. \nJason has taught drum lessons for over 15 years. He taught for 8 years at the Holliston School for the Performing Arts in Holliston\, MA. He worked as a Senior Store Associate and Lesson Program Coordinator at the Music & Arts store in Newton Centre\, MA for 4 years. He currently teaches private lessons in students’ homes. I have facilitated Medicine Drum drum-building workshops throughout the country since 1997. \nA retired corporate accountant by profession\, I was guided to the International Herb Symposium in 1993 in search of natural remedies for my health concerns at that time. Drumming\, dancing\, under the stars\, herbalists decked out in their regalia\, this was a dramatic life-changing culture shock to a conservative accountant like me. In fact an intense ( a long story for another time) dimension shift\, a reality wake-up call occurred driving me to seek out my first frame drum. \nUsing that first drum as a model\, my former partner\, Richard King\, gathered the drum parts and materials to create our first Medicine Drum. At that time all our drums were made with cow skins and imitation sinew lacing. Our first drum-building workshop was in our garage with friends and family participating. \nThat was a magical winter Saturday where Mama Gaia confirmed our new venture by beginning the day with cold\, snow that turned to rain\, then the clouds churned with thunder and lightning only to have the day end with warm breeze and brilliant bright sunshine as the clouds parted in the sunset. A day emblazoned on my memory banks\, February 27\, 1997. \nRichard and I have gone our separate ways. My passion for drums\, drumming\, and teaching drum building ramped up. SUMMARY:Life Alive Drum Circle with Jason Karol
DESCRIPTION:‘Life Alive – Drum Circle’ will celebrate expressing Spirit through the human body with the Universal language that is music and movement. We will open and close the drum circle with a guided meditation which will include sage\, unison drumming\, and toning to center and align our energies. In between will be a freestyle drum circle. Anyone can start a rhythm\, the group will improvise around that rhythm until it naturally concludes\, and then a new rhythm can arise. All skill levels are welcome\, this drum circle is open to total beginners and experienced drummers alike. It is also not just open to drummers! Dancers! During the freestyle portion\, being conscious of the space you are in and those around you\, feel free to get up and move! Shake\, dance\, stretch\, flow… feel free to move to the rhythm and express through your movement. \n\n\n\nThe first ‘Life Alive’ was held on 1/26/24. \n’Life Alive’ will continue to be held every fourth Friday of each month.  Please arrive a little before 7:00 if possible to get settled in for our opening meditation. \nThere will be a limited number of drums and percussion items available for borrowing at the circle\, but if you have an instrument\, please bring yours. Karol needs music just as much as food and water. Okay\, maybe not just as much but\, music has been a prominent part of Jason’s path since day one. Jason’s father is a musician\, guitar is his main instrument\, and he instilled a love of music in Jason right out of the gate. Through private lessons and school growing up\, plus a healthy dose of trial and error self-teaching (then and now)\, Jason has become proficient in a wide range of musical instruments\, disciplines\, and styles. Jason loves sharing his passion for music and wants to encourage and inspire people to expand their love of music through his creation and facilitation. \nJason has taught drum lessons for over 15 years. He taught for 8 years at the Holliston School for the Performing Arts in Holliston\, MA. He worked as a Senior Store Associate and Lesson Program Coordinator at the Music & Arts store in Newton Centre\, MA for 4 years. He currently teaches private lessons in students’ homes. Part of different projects over the years\, he currently performs as part of Drum Nomads\, Electric Nomads\, 52:db\, and he created/facilitates the ‘Divine Design – Ecstatic Dance & Sound Bath’ event series at the Common Street Spiritual Center in Natick\, MA. He assists the wonderful DJ Tara Ma with putting on her recurring ecstatic dance event in Lincoln\, RI. He also has a passion for and experience with audio/video recording\, engineering\, editing\, and production as well as musical instrument construction\, maintenance\, and modification. \nIn addition to music\, some of Jason’s interests are: connecting with people and listening to their stories\, philosophical conversations\, learning about existence/the cosmos/The Universe\, film\, writing (fiction/non-fiction/poetry)\, hiking/biking/kayaking\, yoga/Tai Chi\, various and ever-evolving spiritual practices/disciplines (ask if you want to know more)\, acting in theater productions… oh yes\, and most importantly\, endeavouring to give cats the best ear massages ever! Jason would like to thank his cat companion Morgan for all the practice over the years.

DESCRIPTION:In response to the needs of our community\, I’m continuing to offer FREE/by donation women’s support and healing circles. \nThese gatherings are a gift to those who need a space to release\, transform\, and find support without financial barriers. \nThese circles are designed as safe\, supportive spaces for those feeling the weight of recent events\, struggling to process\, or simply needing extra support to reclaim a sense of calm\, strength\, and clarity. \nThis is a place to release and transform the emotions you may be carrying—anger\, grief\, overwhelm\, fear\, and more—within a compassionate\, sacred space. \nWhile this offering is free\, donations are deeply valued as an expression of reciprocity.
